Write for us
We welcome pitches from writers with a clear idea about country life, household customs, seasonal pastimes or making. Send proposals through the Contact page rather than submitting a finished article without an invitation.
What makes a good pitch
Tell us the working title, the central question or idea, why it may interest our readers and how you would approach it. A strong proposal has a distinct focus, a useful shape and enough context to show what the reader will take away. Evergreen subjects are especially welcome.
Subjects and approach
We are interested in thoughtful explanations, comparisons, histories, myths examined with care and seasonal or occasion-based pieces. Write plainly, avoid sweeping claims about rural life, and make clear when a statement reflects a particular tradition or point of view. Do not send material that depends on unsupported claims or requires specialist advice.
Sending a proposal
Use the Contact page to choose a writing enquiry and include a short description of your relevant experience or connection to the subject. Please do not send confidential material or assume a pitch has been accepted until we reply.
